Frames Area #3
This Independent
Area Reserved
For CE Delivery By CE Server
This page is designed to provide a quick and simple orientation on
frames technology and why it is important to CE Server.
- In general, frames allow a single browser window to be divided into
any number of areas. We have divided this sample window into three
separate and distinct areas.
- Each such area in a browser window is actually a different Web page.
- Each Web page may come from the same or a different server as the
other Web pages displayed in the other areas.
- As a result, each area is completely independent of every other area.
Dynamically changing content for one area can be obtained from an
entirely different server than the other areas.
- The typical person operating the Web browser is unaware of that fact,
and regards the entire window as coming from a single Web site.
- In a typical CE Server application, the window is divided into three
areas as shown here.
- The top area (called Frames Area #1 in this window) is typically
reserved to reflect the sponsoring site's branding information, style,
and colors and comes from a Web page hosted by the sponsoring site.
- The left hand area (called Frames Area #2 in this window) is
typically used to provide navigation links to CE Server functions and
also reflects the sponsoring site's style and colors. It also comes from
a Web page hosted by the sponsoring site.
- This area (called Frames Area #3 in this window) is "turned over"
to CE Server itself to deliver actual CE content and functions via Web
pages that come from our powerful Web server.
The net effect of this design is that each sponsoring site may host
online CE seamlessly and transparently to its users. And best of all, a CE
school's library may be deployed on a sponsoring site in a matter of
hours!
