What CE Server Does
Through years of experience delivering online insurance
CE to students, we've learned the critical functions that our
software must provide in order to deliver a complete solution to
CE schools and to their students. These functions are
Online And Home Study Course Display And
Enrollment
Each and every course offered for a state is displayed for the
prospective student in an easy to understand format. All courses
are presented in tabular fashion, subcategorized by the insurance
line for which it has been approved. A separate table is presented
for each insurance line to facilitate easy selection of courses.
Each course entry includes course name, state approved number,
school course number, credit hours (including optional ethics
hours required by some states), and pricing information. Clicking
the course name causes a new pop-up window to be launched to
present the course synopsis.
Students may enroll in either the online version of the course
or the home study version where conventional hard copy books and
tests are shipped to the student. CE Server permits different
pricing for each version as well as discount packages.
Live Class Course Display And Enrollment
Enrollment in a school's live classes is handled similarly. The
entire class schedule is displayed in an easy to understand
tabular format. Tables are organized by city and location, then by
date so students may easily locate classes that are convenient in
terms of both location and schedule.
Each class listing includes course name, state approved number,
school course number, credit hours (including optional ethics
hours required by some states), and pricing information. Clicking
the course name causes a new pop-up window to be launched to
present the course synopsis.
Students enroll in live class courses via an easy to use "point
and click" interface and pre-pay via the online credit card
payment interface (see below).
Student Information Maintenance
All pertinent and required information about a student is
recorded into the database. This information includes
- Full student name and address information
- Optional different student "ship to" address
- Other student contact information including phone and email
address
- Student license information including renewal date and
permission to remind the student of an upcoming renewal via
email.
- Student credit card information
Enrollment Administration
Each student's enrollment is carefully tracked and made
available at any time. Each course enrollment is categorized into
one of the following categories:
- In Progress
- Completed
- Awaiting Certification
- Certified
A student may check current and past enrollment information at
any time via the Web.
Book Download Management
CE Server provides for the management of book downloads via a
simple, easy to understand table of books that the student is
permitted to download. Downloads may be accomplished immediately
after course enrollment.
All books are delivered via the Internet in the Adobe Portable
Document Format (PDF). Delivering books as PDF files has these
advantages:
- Books are read using Adobe's Acrobat Reader which comes
pre-loaded on most PC's and is also available for free from
Adobe.
- PDF has become the de facto standard for Internet
distribution of printed materials.
- Files are very compact and are quickly downloaded.
- Once downloaded, students may read the book off line, without
an active Internet connection.
- Portions of the book may be printed as desired by the
student.
Online Testing
Students may take the test for any course in which they have
enrolled at any time.
All tests are administered as multiple choice exams and are
graded immediately upon completion. The number of exam questions
and the passing percentage are configurable by the school.
Special attention has been paid to accommodate states with
closed book testing procedures:
- A student's test proctor may register at any time and
affirmatively state at that time how he or she complies with the
state proctor requirements.
- The test proctor signs into the student's test session at the
beginning and signs out again at the end to verify that the
proctor remains in attendance throughout the test session.
- A student's test grade is not displayed or recorded until
after the test proctor has signed out.
- Affidavit forms are printed at the conclusion of a passing
test session along with instructions on how to fax it to the
school.
Certification Requests
Students may request that a certificate of completion be issued
for any successfully completed courses. CE Server presents a list
of completed courses for the student to request certificates
conveniently.
These requests are sent to the CE school via the Order
Management subsystem (see below).
Credit Card Payment Interface
CE Server collects all fees through use of a real time credit
card interface.
Funds are remitted directly into the CE school's bank account.
Order Management
The CE school is provided with a "back end" order
management interface to receive and process incoming orders.
Specific functions allow schools to
- Receive and process incoming orders
- Review and verify all online tests
- Generate enrollment reports
- Review revenue reports
- Obtain current account information
Pricing Flexibility
To accommodate the deployment of your CE Library in a diverse
set of environments, we allow for total flexibility in course
pricing depending on the site to which it is delivered. See the
section on How CE Server Is Used for more information on this
topic.
Student Discount Packages
CE Server allows each school to establish pricing incentives for
students to complete all of their CE with the school. Bundled
pricing can be set up to sell blocks of hours of instruction at a
promotional "bundled" price. Cross selling of live class
courses and online or home study courses is supported.
Information Security
Internet users have become increasingly concerned about the
security of their personal and financial information submitted
online.
CE Server has been issued its own 128 bit Secure Socket Layer
(SSL) certificate, thereby offering the highest level of
encryption or security possible. This means that students can rest
assured that communications between their browser and CE Server
are private and secure. All secure pages are conspicuously
identified with this logo:
